| In The Beginning | Late
1970s
Elyse Collins formed EC Productions while at the University of Texas
in the late 70's when she acquired a broadcast video package and
hired a part-time graphic artist. After graduation, the company
was inundated with advertising, marketing and production work.
Booming Business | Early 1980s
The client list kept building including Coca-Cola, Pearl Beer, IBM,
HEB Grocery Stores, Church's Chicken, Kwik-Wash Laundromats, Texas
state government offices, political campaigns (statewide and local)
- until the oil bust of the mid 1980's. Business went slack for
many companies, including EC Productions. From
Austin to Houston | 1986
Business friends won a contract at NASA to run the television department
for the Johnson Space Center and enrolled Elyse to join their company.
The Challenger disaster had just occurred and the government was
looking for a Creative Director / Producer to run the department
and change NASA's image to the general public. In 1986, Elyse moved
to Houston to take on the challenge. The
New Decade | 1990's
After two years at NASA-JSC, she left to relocate EC Productions
into the Houston market. The company's client roster grew quickly.
Today | The Future
EC Productions is vital and growing. We remain relatively small
for a number of reasons: it allows Elyse the time to personally
oversee strategy and creative for projects; overhead and expenses
remain low (this allows savings to be passed onto clients); and
most importantly - the spark, fun and energy remain instead of the
administrative and bureaucratic layers that can happen in larger
production companies and agencies.
